Silent No More

A nonverbal client receives the tools to express herself.

On her very first day on the job, Rochelle Laks, speech therapist, already showed how much she cares. The first therapy client she met was nonverbal.

While many might have shrugged and thought ‘“I'm new here,  I’ll work with whatever the reality is,” Rochelle was determined to give her nonverbal client the ability to express herself. She worked tirelessly to get her client set up with a communication device — obtaining approval, procuring the device, and setting up the software.

Five weeks later, the results were transformative! With the device in hand, Rochelle’s client has begun to express her thoughts and feelings for the first time, profoundly impacting and improving her quality of life.
