The month of Tishrei feels like being on an uplifting journey, carried by the boundless love of Hashem.
At the South 9th group home, the journey was packed with meaningful activities, learning opportunities, and happiness. At the same time, the home members were enveloped by the warmth of Hashem’s dedicated messengers. It’s thanks to the devoted South 9th team that the home radiated a special holiday atmosphere, creating beautiful moments throughout this special month.
For Rosh Hashanah, the young women baked round challahs and prepared elegant trays of apples and honey. They made honey cookies and carrot muffins, peeled pomegranates, and enjoyed a lesson about the Rosh Hashanah simanim.
During Aseres Yimei Teshuvah, they said Tashlich and kapparos with heartfelt sincerity. On Yom Kippur, they fasted, went to shul with the staff, and davened.
Before Succos, they crafted posters and decorations for the succah. They also participated in a fun “lulav and esrog” dance class. On Succos, they waved their very own lulav and esrog sets each day. The meals in the succah, ushpizen-themed desserts, and lively singing made Yom Tov unforgettable.
Chol Hamoed was an adventure to remember! After days of careful planning, a custom schedule was created to make everyone’s dreams come true. Activities included an overnight trip to Diggerland amusement park, a visit to the New York Aquarium, a zoo experience, boat rides, slide presentations, hiking, biking, and joyful celebrations at Simchat Beit HaShoevah events.
On Simchas Torah, staff accompanied the individuals to shuls throughout the Williamsburg community, where they enjoyed the vibrant dancing.
After Yom Tov, the group collected the esrogim from both the home and the staff and created delicious esrog jelly, a delicious reminder of a month bursting with sweetness.
